So I am back :-). And to answer some people's questions, yes, I am alive and well, just a bit stressed out after the Unitech midterm week. Also I am very excited about Galway.... in 2 days I'll already be sleeping at my new place, wow, incredible.
I think this blog will be about movies :-). I have discovered that going to the cinema by myself is awesome. You would not believe how many people I have met, Maria and Carlos from Brazil, Aileen from Ireland, a sweet girl from Germany and so on... I never thought the cinema was a social place, but it truly is. But naturally it's also about the movies and I have nearly seen all the ones that are being shown currently...
I just come home from seeing "The King's Speech". What an amazing, stunning, lovable movie. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are incredible! I still have no clue how Colin Firth managed to play this role so absolutely convincingly! I recommend it to everyone.
127 Hours... It's about a young man getting stuck while climbing... Basically his hand gets jammed between two rocks and he can neither get the hand out nor move the rock. So... if they TELL you before going into the cinema, that there is a REALLY bad scene in this movie and if you REALLY want to go watch it (obviously after you have bought the ticket) everyone knows what's gonna happen. The movie is good, but not great. The main story is quite alright but some of the scenes where the man is thinking back to his life are boring and way too cheesy. So I guess if you enjoy hearing bones crack and blood flow it's your kind of movie ;-).
Gullliver's Travel. Saw that in 3D, was fun, entertainment, but nothing more.
The Way Back. Absolutely brilliant, dramatic and you really feel with the people trying to escape! I think that this is the absolutely BEST movie out there currently.
Meet the parents: little Fockers. Ehm yes, how come I went to see this? I'm sure all of you who know me are REALLY confused now ;-). I guess I planned on going to the cinema and when I got there this was the only movie that was running in the next hour, so I really had no other choice... It was entertainment, but rather boring and a totally weird sense of humour... not for me at all.
Burlesque. Went to see this because the ones I was with absolutely wanted to go see Chatroom and I refused. The movie was far better than I expected. If you enjoy musical movies then this is for you, some amazing performances, good singers and for the guys, nice girls to look at ;-).
The Chronicles of Narnia - The voyage of the dawn treader. My FIRST 3D movie ever, it was good, never red the books, never saw the other movies, but I enjoyed it.
The Tourist. Very entertaining, awesome and unexpected twists and who doesn't like Italy? Go see :-)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What can I say... it's the movie of one of the greatest books I ever red and I have to say I was for the first time a bit disappointed. They travel, they camp in the woods, they camp on the rock, they camp,... It's a bit boring and I have to say that once is more than enough... As with the other movies, I saw all of them more than once and enjoyed them the second time as well, but this one???
Tangled. Cute, funny, entertaining, but that's it.
WOW, that is 10 movies! And I have one more...
True Grit. Good, but very challenging to understand those cowboys with there accents :-). Enjoyed it.
And another one:
The Swan. Ok, really WTF??? This movie is the craziest thing I have seen in a long time. I'm sure some artistic people would say it's the most amazing movie ever. I say it is REALLY complicated, but even though I think I understand it, it's stupid in my opinion. This girl (Natalie Portman) is the white swan impersonated... She is good, aims at perfection and is ambitious. She is then given the role of the swan queen in Swan Lake, but the boss is not happy with her performance of the black swan (the seductive, evil swan). So what basically happens is that she goes down a bad road in her real life and eventually she goes completely crazy. So she gets so crazy that she has hallucinations and constantly fears that Lily wants to steal her role. The whole crazy story ends with the performance and the white swan killing herself while at the same time Natalie Portman (or well the crazy girl she plays) dying. And that's the end! So seriously, don't waste your money on this.
Ok, now it's late and your movie critic ;-) has to go to bed.
